Marion Square

the gateway to charleston

Established in the 19th century, Marion Square has been the heartbeat of the city for over 150 years. In its former life, it housed the original wing of The Citadel, South Carolina’s Military Academy (now a hotel), while the location Hotel Bennett sits on was once the location of the Charleston County Library. Today, the famous square is home to weekly Saturday Farmer’s Markets, the acclaimed Spoleto Arts Festival and Charleston Wine + Food, among other signature events. Hotel Bennett has access to Marion Square for ceremonies, a special location for a wedding. Upon the footsteps of the hotel’s entrance in Marion Square find a vibrant, thriving Farmers Market every Saturday morning. Shop among 100+ local vendors. In addition to farmers & growers, visitors can explore various food vendors and artisans showcasing art, clothing, jewelry and more.
